Holcomb
Perch Mortar and Pestle
Reminiscent of an heirloom kitchen tool, the heavy, textured granite stone of the Perch Mortar and Pestle makes quick work of pestos, curries, and whole dried spices. The Perch Mortar and Pestle rests in an architectural base that allows you to position the mortar at the ideal angle, providing additional leverage and protecting countertops from the rough stone. The natural ash wood wears with use, ensuring the mortar nests even more smoothly with time.

Care Guide
- Hand wash mortar and pestle with warm water and rinse thoroughly. Avoid using soap as it may leach unwanted flavors into the stone.
- Wipe the wood base with a damp cloth.
- Maintain wood by conditioning it with oil as needed. The ash wood body is treated with natural, food-safe oil. We recommended conditioning twice a year with heavy use.
- Season the mortar by repeatedly grinding dry rice until powdered, and adding a small amount of water to create a paste. Repeat several times until powder and paste are white and grit-free. Rinse with water to remove any remaining rice.
